I’m not entirely sure if we do vibe the same vibes, but here is a compilation of the music that I listen to on YouTube on various occasions. I’m going to be very, very specific as to when and why I listen to the music so to tell a story behind the rhythm and melody that encapsulate the moments I enjoy having the music blessing my ears and soul while I study or do my coursework (yes, I am that dramatic). Disclaimer: I do not own the music nor the content of the videos on YouTube. All rights go to the respective owners.

1. It’s 2 am and you’re awake from your slumber to find yourself sweating from the tremendous anxiety that’s crippling your entire being due to the dreadful deadlines and your obligations. You still have time, but the invisible creatures in your mind possess more control of you, making you feel like you have close to none left. You get up, stretches your limbs, and collect yourself together, ready to begin writing on your paper. 

2. You got into a heated argument with someone you really care about, and you ended up getting hurt. At the same time, you have a 20 pages of technical report that is due that night that you barely touched thanks to the untimely fight and the procrastination you’ve been committing ever since you were assigned the task. You had no choice but to finish the report to save your grade. You turn on your computer, gather all your essential materials and start typing the content of the report with teary eyes. 

3. You watched one (or two, maybe three) Studio Ghibli movie(s) before getting into the process of writing your technical reports and essays earlier in the evening. You have your cup of tea or coffee ready, your books laid neatly on the desk, and your computer next to the pile of books. It’s a melodramatic night, one that is perfect for a night study session. 

4. You’re in an excellent mood, even though you’re internally pressurized by the deadlines and the tremendous number of pages of the technical reports you have to write in the next couple of days. You feel as though the world is yours. You plan the content carefully, complete with a set of colour coding scheme.

5. It’s Narnia soundtrack appreciation night!! It’s one of those nights that feel so magical and surreal you wouldn’t want to miss studying in the fairy tale-like atmosphere. You can feel Aslan calmly whispering “You can do it!” in your ears as you bring your pen to the paper and begin writing the essays you’re bound to submit in the next fortnight.

please make sure that wherever you’re at in life, you don’t treat it like a transitory period. don’t waste your college years wishing to already be graduated & have a job. don’t waste your single years wishing for someone to be in love with. if/when those things come, they will come in due time and they will be good. but there is nothing like looking back and feeling empty because you wasted literal years ignoring what you had because you were hoping for something better. while it’s important to better yourself and reach for your goals, don’t neglect the present because that’s where you are now and it’s your now that determines your future.
